Isaac Newton (1643-1727)- English physicist and mathematician who was born into a poor farming family.
Newton was sent to Cambridge to study to become a preacher. At Cambridge, Newton studied mathematics, being
strongly influenced by Euclid, although he was also interested in Baconian and Cartesian philosophical concepts of science.
He worked at almost all fields of natural sciences of that time, physics in particular. He created foundations for
modern mechanics, theory of gravity, optics and thermodynamics. In mathematics, he contributed to the discovery of differential and integral calculus and its applications in description of the natural phenomena.
